Top 10 feminine scents
Mums are often so busy taking care of the family and their needs that they can forget about looking after themselves. Here are some of our favourite essential oils that women of all ages will love:
Clary Sage ~ The sweet, fruity and herbaceous scent is said to have a calming effect on the body and can be used to reduce anxiety, depression, stress and promote sleep, helps relieve pre-menstrual symptoms and muscular cramps.
Frankincense ~ A calming oil with a fresh, woody and balsamic aroma and slightly spicy and fruity, helpful to use when you need to unwind and provide comfort against stress.
Geranium ~ A floral and sweet fragrance with a slight hint of mint. Used in skincare and in times of dermatitis, eczema and wound healing. It has a balancing effect on the nervous system so useful in times of anxiety and stress plus can be used to provide relief against pre-menstrual symptoms.
Jasmine ~ The warm, sweet and flowery aroma of this very rare and speciality oil is known for its aphrodisiac qualities. Used for mood lifting and in cases of exhaustion, depression and nervous tension. It is also used in skin care as it helps soften dry, irritated and sensitive skin.
Juniper Berry ~ A refreshing aroma with sweet, earthy and wooden overtones. Has antiseptic and astringent properties and primarily used to treat respiratory problems and urinary infections plus has been used to treat gout, arthritis and rheumatism. It is an uplifting oil, helping to clear the mind and relieving anxiety and feelings of stress.
Lavender ~ A light, floral and refreshing scent and is a multipurpose essential oil for pain, headaches and stress. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties that will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. The scent is said to have a calming effect on the body and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep.
Mandarin ~ A gentle, fruity, sweet and citrusy scent. Used in skin care, particularly good for oily skin, acne and spots. Other properties include being a digestive aid in times of abdominal discomfort. Through its calming qualities it is useful to use in times of depression, anxiety and stress.
Neroli ~ A delicate floral, citrusy and exotic aroma. A very calming oil, helpful in times of sleeplessness, anxiety, stress and depression. It is used in skin care as it encourages cell growth and helps with elasticity of the skin.
Rose ~ The sweet, floral and rich aroma, with honey undertones of this essential oil is often used in skin care and is suitable to use for all skin types, particularly dry and damaged skin. It rejuvenates skin cells due to its soothing properties. It is an uplifting oil and useful in times of sadness, grief and upsetting situations.
Ylang Ylang ~ A sweet, floral and sensual aroma. It has the ability to arouse the senses and it is highly suited for women with extreme mood swings occurring before menstruation. The sedative properties in this essential oil help to lower high blood pressure.
